Full of Flowers

Updated: Aug 22, 2018

A few weeks ago a sweet friend sent Matt & I Easter flowers. They are beautiful and smell amazing. The lilacs (my favorite) gave the house such a lovely spring feel (since the outdoors lack any sign of spring). I had to get a picture of these beautiful flowers and of course document it.

I decided to do this in my Travelers Notebook and playing with a little mixed media. I first gessoed my page and took out my new Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. I scribbled on Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, and Peacock Feathers. Sprayed with water and blended with my finger and a brush.

Next, I played around with layering different items with my floral picture. I immediately thought of one of Wilna Furstenberg's designs in her Paint & Prayers class. This class comes with so many digitals, die cuts and awesome inspiration and art lessons. This TN spread was perfect use for this print & cut, as was my photo.

I also knew I wanted to use Ink Road Stamps: Flora Bella. I adore this stamp set and thought it would be perfect for this spread. I first stamped and embossed an image from the set on a tag from the Clique Kits: February 2018 TN kit (shown above). I then used the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons in Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade to add color to the stage and stand out from the background.

I felt like the page needed more elements, so I took out my Clique Kits: February 2018 kit featuring Pretty Little Studio's Sweet Life collection. I loved the vellum "Rainbow" piece, the Die Cut phrases, and the washi. I set these aside as I played around with the layout of my page.

In the picture below you can see I tore the Vellum and layered it under the phrase die cut. You can also see the stamped tag colored with the distress crayons.

I also layered the photo with torn vellum and added a cluster of washi tape to the bottom left of the page.

I finished the page off with black acrylic ink splatters.
